Where the Townies and Students Converge
DESCRIPTION: The Deer Park is pretty much the default bar and meeting place in Newark, Delaware. If you haven t been in the Deer Park you haven t been to Newark. It is a common hangout for students and different groups even have their meetings around tables at the DP. I remember fondly every Wednesday night of my student career hanging out with friends eating half-priced nachos. The DP has a vast number of beers in bottles and a fair amount on tap. At night (after 9 or so) you will be carded (and if you are a minor be prepared to be marked as such). <P> The restaurant is fair to middling but occasionally they surprise me with something wonderful. It is always worth looking at the specials menu. There was a time that their nacho grande plate could not be beat. They do have veggie burgers as well as a few other vegetarian options. <P> The bar is pretty standard. They have a good selection of imported beers and nightly drink specials. There is live music of a variety of genres (not every night). When there is a live band there is sometimes a small cover charge. <P> The ambience is somewhere between historically interesting (with picture of Newark from ages past) and simulating an oversized hole in the wall bar (or typical townie bar). At night do not be surprised if you feet stick to the floor a little. (What do you expect, it can get crowded and enough people walking around with beer and there is bound to be some spillage) A good description of the DP s atmosphere might be comfortable. <P> The real reason why you go to the DP is to hang out with the residents of Newark (and nearby Elkton). The porch offers a good view of Main Street passerbyers (but beware of trains they blow there whistle when passing)

DESCRIPTION: The Deer Park has been recently renovated and brought back to life - life as it was in the 1800s, that is. It is finally a beautiful building, capitalizing on Newark's and its own history. But it's not too beautiful to command a high-priced menu or to exclude either students or townies. It's now a place any student would be proud to take her parents on visiting day.

Superior service, smooth taste, great date place!
DESCRIPTION: It's nice to be greeted cordially, checked to make sure the meal is going well, and meeting the owner after the meal who asked, "How was everything? Is there anything else I could get for you?" I consider myself a not very requiring customer, but this little extra was quite a treat. The dishes looked familiar to me, having had Indian foods before, but there were some unique items and the flavor had a very smoothe blend of spices like they were cooking for V.I.P's. The decor was also nice, they really did a lot for a shopping stripmall place. I'm sure with enough visitors they'll be building a palace that would rightfully house the great experience found inside. When you go, bring a date, I'm sure s/he will be delighted by the service and the meal.

Great Lunch, Eh?
DESCRIPTION: Surprisingly even with the 'hunter's look', Bugaboo is my daughter's favorite restaruant. You'll see why if you go. The animatronics make it fun, the service is friendly and the deserts are very creative. Me? I'll take a Moosehead lager, Onion N' Ale Soup, and a Moosebreath Burger. Yum! Although I won't be attending any fresh breath conventions afterwards, it was delicious. The burger was cooked just right. Bugaboo got kudos from the Mrs. as well on the Chicken Ceasar Salad and Clearly Canadian.

DESCRIPTION: The food won't exactly pound any particular sensations into your taste buds, but you will leave, stuffed with an Americanized form of Canadian cuisine. Most of the dishes are quite pricey in comparison to other chain restaurants, but you definitely get your money's worth.

More than a bar...
DESCRIPTION: I've only been here once, and it was a while ago. I recall the food as being good, though I don't remember what I ate, but what does stand out in my mind was the velvety-smooth Pig Iron Porter that I drank with my meal. Both my dinner companion that evening and I rarely drink beer, but we both greatly enjoyed our beers that evening.

More expensive than a bar
DESCRIPTION: Ok, the beer and food are ok. I am not really going to argue with that. BUT!!!! If you are going there to drink be prepared to have a wad of cash in hand. They are essentially trying to bill themselves as "fine dining" - complete with fine dining prices. (we re talking $8 for a mixed drink here [double captain morgan and diet coke])<P>The beer is damn good. They are my second favorite brew-pub in the area as far as that goes. But sheesh, I can get much better food for a cheaper price OR I can get better beer for a cheaper price. That being said I can't get them both at the same place.<P>It is a good not-too-formal take a date kind of place that makes you look sophisticated (if that is what you are going for

DESCRIPTION: Every time I visit this restaurant I have an enjoyable experience. The satff is friendly and attentive. The food is always good and I hear the beer is fabulous. The place is nice but it can get loud in the center tables. I will definitely continue to eat at this restaurant.

DESCRIPTION: I was too busy enjoying the Rasberry Wheat to notice. I'm not normally a beer drinker but Iron Hill is the exception to the rule. The atmosphere can get crowded at times, but I can taste why.

Good food, nice ambiance
DESCRIPTION: A reliably good restaurant with some particularly good dishes I crave. I eat at Iron Hill several times a year and I have been disappointed only once. It is often crowded on Friday nights, but it adds to the fun atmosphere. A bit expensive, but the service is good.

Crikey! Look at the size of those portions mate!
DESCRIPTION: Impossible to leave hungry, Outback offers very generous portions to go with top-notch hospitality. Everything on the menu tastes even better than imagined. Even the french onion soup was a meaty meal in itself! I could barely finish my Drover's Platter (BBQ ribs and chicken) by the time it came. Also, I will ONLY get ribs from here. They are the best - tender and falling off the bone. The waitress then asked, "Got room for desert?". I wanted to laugh but was too full so I simply smiled gracefully as a shook no. Go to Outback and you'll have no worries mate.

DESCRIPTION: There was a long wait and the restaurant staff could use some assistance with keeping the place cleaner. When they walk by a messy floor they could pick a few pieces up. I was a waitress for 4 years and this makes the place look cleaner. The food was satisfactory. It is what you expect from a cheaper restaurant that is a chain.

DESCRIPTION: It looked like a nice country-style place to eat. The service, well, I thought they'd forgotten about us and was ready to leave. Food finally came. Though I'm not sure what it was, it didn't look like anything I ordered. Mom never made anything like this - thank goodness! So with clogging arteries, I drudged my way to the car and carried my aching stomach home. If you see a Bob Evans, keep going until you hit a Dennys or IHOP.

Don't work at Bob Evans
DESCRIPTION: I work at Bob Evans. Try having 8 tables totaling 30 people to serve at once at breakfast time. The largest tip you will get is $1 per person on average. YOU have to take the orders, get the drinks, take out the food, suggestive sell other foods, get refills, and in between that you have to carry dishes, rolls, and silverware (if the restaurant has not ran out then you have to beg them to run the dishwasher so your tables have silverware before their food is done). Then the cook messes up an order while you have an evil manager saying do this and that all at once. Not to mention you have to remember where all the drinks and food items go (directly in front of each customer). During all this you have to smile and be professional. You tell me if you don't think a waitress has to be smart. Now they just told us we have to bus all of our own tables, and got rid of the most of the bussers. All they pay you is $2.13 an hour. Also I work 8 to 13 hours with not even a 5 minute break.

Bob Evans, a great place to work
DESCRIPTION: I have worked for Bob Evans for two years. I am a Server, Cook, and a Food Quality Specialist. I have worked in several of their resturants. Every one with great managment. All of my co-workers are friendly and polite as are the customers. In respone to Kelly, you are probably not giving your customer proper service. If you were your tips would be better.
